WASTE PREVENTION THROUGH PROCESSING

Lead batteries are often used as vehicle batteries in cars, lorries, motorbikes and commercial vehicles, for example in agriculture. They are also used in industry in industrial trucks (electric forklift trucks), electric cleaning machines, pallet trucks and for emergency power supplies. Lead from such batteries can be almost completely recycled. A large proportion of the lead produced worldwide today comes from recycling processes. The battery acid is neutralised and regenerated. Most batteries are broken down into their individual components and the materials are separated from each other. Plastics can therefore be easily recovered.
